Vedic Scripts, wisdom and facts - Page 4 Empty Maha Mantra power

Post  devakas Wed Jan 05, 2011 11:36 am

Devotees of Hare Krsna movement know the Namaste language of the higher dimension. They also know and feel the Maha mantra power. Vedas describe that million years ago in golden Yuga people knew mantras which are from other godly dimension and they were constantly chanting. Vedic scripts describe that mantra power keeps pure souls from getting entangled in the material world and condition souls to live miserable lives without love. There are mantras that were used in the wars later, the god’s vibration of specific mantras were so amazingly powerful and able to kill precisely somebody while leaving others untouched. There were mantras to heal, mantras for longevity, mantras for knowledge, mantras for living not in this material world.
There are teachings how to chant properly Maha mantra Hare Krsna to achieve the purification, bliss and peace. There are bad energies controlling and gaining control constantly in the world, but creator energy is more powerful. Even the bad energy from ancient to PTB is very powerful, it comes from ego. The same ego that all of us brought here in this prison. To spread the egoless life here in this 3D plane, to help to achieve unconditioned soul status is the true lightworkers job.

We know what consume those bad powers. Fear. This is why they are alive. The false desire of bad energies to get more of the stuff that can be perceived by more senses, the desire for that matter eventually will not win.

I don’t think we should concentrate on liars and cheaters and their jobs, this mentality keeps us conditioned, we should seek contacts with devotees of creator and like minded to learn from developed souls with the reason to get out of this loop of coming back to this material world.

it is hard in Kali Yuga for conditioned souls to stay pure and for this reason there is simple, simplified most important mantra as a help...

    ___________________
    Power of Maha mantra

The transcendental vibration established by the chanting of Hare KRISHNA, Hare KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is the sublime method of reviving our KRISHNA consciousness. As living spiritual souls we are all originally KRISHNA conscious entities, but due to our association with matter from time immemorial, our consciousness is now polluted by the material atmosphere. The material atmosphere, in which we are now living, is called Maya, or illusion. Maya means "that which is not." And what is this illusion? The illusion is that we are all trying to be lords of material nature, while actually we are under the grip of her stringent laws. When a servant artificially tries to imitate the all-powerful master, this is called illusion. In this polluted concept of life, we are all trying to exploit the resources of material nature, but actually we are becoming more and more entangled in her complexities. Therefore, although we are engaged in a hard struggle to conquer nature, we are ever more dependent on her. This illusory struggle against material nature can be stopped at once by revival of our KRISHNA consciousness.
KRISHNA consciousness is not an artificial imposition on the mind; this consciousness is the original energy of the living entity. When we hear the transcendental vibration, this consciousness is revived. And this process is recommended for this age by authorities. By practical experience also, one can perceive that by chanting this maha-mantra, or the Great Chanting for Deliverance, one can at once feel a transcendental ecstasy coming through from the spiritual stratum. And when one is factually on the plane of spiritual understanding--surpassing the stages of senses, mind, and intelligence--one is situated on the transcendental plane. This chanting of Hare KRISHNA, Hare KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is directly enacted from the spiritual platform, and thus this sound vibration surpasses all lower strata of consciousness-- namely sensual, mental, and intellectual. There is no need, therefore, to understand the language of the mantra, nor is there any need for mental speculation or any intellectual adjustment for chanting this maha-mantra. It springs automatically from the spiritual platform, and as such, anyone can take part in the chanting without any previous qualification, and dance in ecstasy.

We have seen this practically. Even a child can take part in the chanting, or even a dog can take part in it. Of course, for one who is too entangled in material life, it takes a little more time to come to the standard point, but even such a materially engrossed man is raised to the spiritual platform very quickly. When the mantra is chanted by a pure devotee of the Lord in love, it has the greatest efficacy on the hearers, and as such, this chanting should be heard from the lips of a pure devotee of the Lord, so that immediate effects can be achieved. As far as possible, chanting from the lips of non devotees should be avoided. Milk touched by the lips of a serpent has poisonous effects.

The word Hara is the form of addressing the energy of the Lord, and the words KRISHNA and Rama are forms of addressing the Lord Himself. Both KRISHNA and Rama mean "the supreme pleasure," and Hara is the supreme pleasure energy of the Lord, changed to Hare in the vocative. The supreme pleasure energy of the Lord helps us to reach the Lord.

The material energy, called Maya, is also one of the multi energies of the Lord. And we, the living entities, are also the energy--marginal energy--of the Lord. The living entities are described as superior to material energy. When the superior energy is in contact with the inferior energy, an incompatible situation arises; but when the superior marginal energy is in contact with the superior energy, called Hara, the living entity is established in his happy, normal condition.

These three words, namely Hare, KRISHNA, and Rama, are the transcendental seeds of the maha-mantra. The chanting is a spiritual call for the Lord and His internal energy, Hara, to give protection to the conditioned soul. This chanting is exactly like the genuine cry of a child for its mother. Mother Hara helps the devotee achieve the grace of the supreme father, Hari, or KRISHNA, and the Lord reveals Himself to the devotee who chants this mantra sincerely.

No other means of spiritual realization, therefore, is as effective in this age as chanting the maha-mantra. Hare KRISHNA, Hare KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.

By His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupâda
(The acarya - teacher by example - that brought this mantra to the West)

    Vedic Mathematics: rapid mental calculation

What is Vedic Mathematics? It is a Mental, One-Line system of Arithmetic developed in India over 2,000 years ago, that gets children off the calculator and enabling them to do large multiplications in their head within seconds. There are 16 Universal Sutras or Formulae to learn, and in this Lecture, you will be familiarized with about 6 of them.
It improves Memory Skills and Confidence. Teenage children welcome, as they will benefit from this demonstration. People all over the world are currently getting excited about this ancient lost Knowledge, and over 20 schools in the world have now adopted this technique.

    VEDIC MATHEMATICS REDISCOVERED
    ARTICLE by JAIN
    for NEXUS MAGAZINE Aug 2003

    Some questions to ponder upon:

    • How could the Aryan civilization, near the Hunza Valley, 3,000 years
ago, mentally compute mathematical operations that today only a
    calculator could achieve?
    • And if the mathematics could not be done mentally, how could they do everything we know today, IN ONE-LINE? eg: converting the fraction 1/19 into a decimal is an 18 digit answer that requires 35
lines of exhausting long division, how could they do it in a one simple
    line solution?
    • Why is NASA secretly using this MENTAL, ONE-LINE SYSTEM OF ARITHMETIC in the field of Advanced Artificial Intelligence? and not incorporating it into our current mathematics curriculum?
    • Why are many of Bill Gate's Mathematicians Indians?
    • Is the decimal form of Pi (3.141592) a sonic code for dedications to Krishna?
    • What does the Bhagavad Gita have to say about this lost science of Clairvoyant Calculation that the ancient Temple Builders employed?
    • How can you become a Human Bio-Calculator?
    • Is the current Western Mathematics Curriculum keeping our Children in a state of limited intelligence?

The answers to all these questions are found by understanding the ancient system of Vedic Mathematics as rediscovered by Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960), of Puri Govardhan Math, dux of India in Mathematics and a Sanskrit Philosopher who wrote and spoke perfect
English, he reached the position of a Shankacharya (the spiritual head of India 100 years ago, like a Dalai Lama or Vatican Pope), renunciated several high official positions in society to retreat into a forest for 7 years as a yogi, between 1911 and 1918 in which time he collected all the lost mathematical knowledge (Ganita
Sutras), improved and reconstructed them to 16 basic Sutras or word formulae that solve every known mathematical problem. These 16 Volumes relating to the 16 Sutras was our legacy from the ancient past.

This highly intelligent and sophisticated system of Mental, One-Line Arithmetic was taught by The Master to his main student, who today is the leading exponent in the world: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the long white-haired and bearded yogi that many of the 60s generation know of as the Beatle’s guru. He is considered as the greatest human bio-calculator on the planet today, holding the vision of raising the collective consciousness of all nations by re-introducing the lost Vedic Mathematics Sutras early in a child’s spiritual and educational development. Imagine a maths class in India today, like in the times of old when knowledge was passed on as an oratradition, and the teacher quickly calls or drills out certain numbers to multiply or divide and the children instantly reply with the correct intuitive answers! Today, in schools where Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation technique are used students perform remarkably well academically, viewing Mathematics as a Universal Language and therefore often winning the highest competitive prizes in mathematics.
Maharishi organized the scattered Vedic Literature into a complete science of consciousness for both its theoretical and practical value, describing the 16 Sutras as fundamental impulses of intelligence that structure all the Laws of Nature and those that govern the Universe.

Maharishi, the Founder of TM, once said:

"Vedic Mathematics is that one field of knowledge which fulfils the purpose of education by developing the total creative genius of the individual, giving him/her the ability to be always spontaneously right and automatically precise so that his/her action, supported by Natural Law, is always effortlessly fulfilling."

Unfortunately, all of Bharati Krsna's 16 Volumes for the 16 Sutras were confirmed lost in 1958 after Bharati Krsna Tirthaji returned from the USA tour, sponsored by the Self-Realization Foundation: the successors of Paramahansa Yogananda (who died in 1952, and who
introduced Yoga to the West). Disciples observed that people in the streets of India were imitating Tirthaji's lectures and dazzling audiences with mathematically mis-used psychic powers, and begged the Master to write a book just before his death in 1960. This single volume, called VEDIC MATHEMATICS, has become the bible on this subject and spawned a thousand web-sites worldwide. Maharishi schools disseminated the teachings to England where certain schools have adopted the Vedic curriculum but the irony is that today
India is struggling to release the British curriculum and NASA have adopted it fully in the realms of advanced robotics. Calculations that can be solved as quick as lightning are a great tool to adopt, but you wouldn’t want to teach it worldwide in the fear that you may churn out a generation of child geniuses that may threaten the intellectual status quo.

The gift that the Hindus gave to world, thousands of years ago, and that which is currently responsible for global silicon chip technology, was none other than the invention of ZERO and the use of the decimal point. We call our common numbers "Arabic Numerals" but really they extend back to the Hindu concept of creation and void known as "Bindu" or The Zero Point. In Maths, it makes the magic work eg: if you wish to multiply 98 x 98 we need to understand Zero and Unity. All Vedic Maths is based on the understanding of Unity Consciousness which means they utilize processes or Number Bases that correspond to:

    0, 10, 100, 1000, 10000 etc all of which add to 1.

Let us look at some practical examples, in light of the fact that the Vedas, literally "the illimitable storehouse of All Knowledge" came under 4 headings or categories like Ayurveda (Healing), and Vedas for Music and Astronomy etc and one relevant sub-Veda that related to Temple Building and Engineering and therefore Mathematics called SthapathyaVeda. Thus a Vedic Mathematician was also an astronomer, healer and poet. It was a total system. As a temple builder, there was no pen and paper, you simply calculated in your head. You are out in the field and you need to tile a square floor that is, say 108 units square. How do you do it with mental ease?

I think only of the excess "8", saying how much is 108 more than my Base of 100. It is "8". So I will merely add this "8" to the number in question "108" and tag on the squaring of this excess:

    108 Squared = 108 + 8 / 8x8
    = 116 / 64
    = 11,664
    Its very simple.
Here is another Mental, One-Line Calculation:

    Sutra: By The Excess

The Multiplication of Numbers Over a Base

108 x 109 can be computed in one second by understanding this Pattern Recogition:
I add the excess of "8" to the other number "109" and then tag on the multiplicatin of those two excesses: "8" and "9".

    108 x 109 = 109 + 8 / 8 x 9
    = 117 / 72
    = 11,772

    Sutra: By The Deficiency
The Squaring of Numbers Under a Base

To solve 98 Squared (98 x 98) we must first determine what Base we are in. It is close to 100, therefore we say Base 100. We must now choose one of the 16 Sutras to effectively solve the problem. It is called: "By The Deficiency":
"By whatever the deficiency, lessen it further by that much and set up the square thereof"
says one of the 16 Sutras. Sounds cryptic and meaningless yet it quickly solves the problem.
We get our answer by merely knowing how much is 100 less 98. Knowing that the deficiency is 2, we merely lessen 98 by 2 and then we tag on the squaring of that 2. As a one-line answer, the setting out would appear as thus:

    98 Squared = 98 - 2 / 2x2. Simplifying it:
    = 96 / _ 4
We almost have our answer. What we need to know is that since our Base is 100, it has 2 zeroes, therefore this fact governs the need for 2 spaces or 2 digits after the "forward slash" symbol ( / ). By inserting or inventing The Zero as a "Place Marker", the answer is achieved:
    98 Squared = 96 / 04
    = 9,604.
(Perhaps the greatest invention of all time, the Hindu creation of the Zero was to change the world unimaginably as time passed on leading to the ability to send Vimana U.F.O craft and rockets into space, to supercomputers and thus the ancient and continuing battle between Michael and Lucifer:
Archangel Michael's Internal Light Vehicle Merkabah Time/Space Travel and Natural Spiritual Powers Versus Lucifer's daring invention of the External Merkabah or Artificial Technological Metal Spacecraft).

    Observe similar examples:
    97 squared = 97 - 3 / 3x3
    = 94 / 09

    96 squared = 96 - 4 / 4x4
    = 92 / 16.

What if we enlarged our numbers to 998 Squared?
It is close to 1,000 so we say Base 1,000 and know to have 3 zeroes on the right hand side of the ( / ).
    998 squared = 998 - 2 / 2x2
    = 996 / _ _ 4
    = 996 / 004.
    = 996,004

Understanding this, you can be calculating digits in the millions:
    9998 squared = 9998 - 2 / 2x2
    = 9996 / _ _ _ 4
(Since we are in Base 10,000 the 4 Zeroes determine the need for 4 digits after the ( / ).
    = 9996 / 0004
    = 99,960,004.

There is a world-wide debate currently raging about the efficacy of Vedic Mathematics versus the crumbling foundations of Western Mathematics.
Generally speaking, the theorems we all learned at school are not wrong but clumsy. Some of the Western geometrical formulae are certainly wrong or inadequate: for example, the formulae for sphere packing in the higher dimensions increase up to the 6th Dimension then suddenly decrease for higher dimensions, which is simply absurd.
Unfortunately, some die-hard senior mathematicians in an attempt to protect the crumbling foundations that they now stand on feel threatened by the lightning quick mental calculations of the Vedic seers, and go to great lengths to deride Vedic maths as a "bag of tricks". And of course, many insecure teachers worldwide are afraid to rewrite all their course material.
Here is another example illustrating its utter simplicity:
"The Path of Least Resistance", or "The Law of Economy".

    Sutra: By One More:
The Squaring of Numbers Ending in 5

If we wanted to square the number 25, i.e. 25 x 25, we would conventionally take 3 lines of working out. Vedic Mathematics merely looks at the Question, applies one of the 16 Sutras, and solves it Mentally in One-Line. In this case, the Sutra at work is "By One More Than The Previous Digit". Observing that 25 is a 2 digit number, 5 is the last digit, but we are mainly interested in "the Previous Digit" which is 2. We say, mentally, "What is One more than Two?" It is 3. The word "By" in the Sutra really means "to multiply". The setting out for the first half of the answer is thus:
    252 = 2 "By" 3 / ........
    = 2 x 3 / ........
To this we tag on the last digit "5" squared:
    = 2 x 3 / 5 x 5
    = 6 / 25
    Thus the answer is 625.

Similarly, all other numbers that end in 5, when squared, can be done instantly:
    152 = 1 x 2 / 5 x 5 = 2 / 25 = 225
    352 = 3 x 4 / 5 x 5 = 12 / 25 = 1,225
    452 = 4 x 5 / 5 x 5 = 20 / 25 = 2,025
    952 = 9 x 10 / 5 x 5 = 90 / 25 = 9, 025

    Sutra: Vertically and Crosswise:

Vedic Scripts, wisdom and facts - Page 4 V+cdiagram
    Fig 137d
    Sutra: Vertically and Crosswise

Here is another simple Sutra, the one that Bharati Krsna Tirthaji refers to as most widely used, called "Vertically and Crosswise" and solves all multiplication by application of a pattern (which is registered by the Right Brain as Feminine-Natured Mathematics in contrast to the logical Male Left Brain style of moths you learnt at school).

eg: To find 26 Multiplied by 31 in One-Line, we need to look at a Pattern,
viz: This Sutra, known as: "Vertically and Crosswise" shows we will have
a 3-Digit Answer represented by the 3 short horizontal lines.
Here is how we traditionally write the setting out for "26 x 31":
    2 6
    x
    3 1
    ------
    _ _ _

Notice there are 4 digits involved ( 2, 6, and 3, 1) and let them be represented by a small circle or dot and that explains the format seen in Fig 137e. This will help you to understand "CROSS ADDITION" which is shown as the middle part:
[ (2 x 1) + (6 x 3) ] and uses both multiplication and addition in the form of the letter "X" and corresponds to the "cross-over of the optical nerve in the brain" shown in Fig 137e below. (Here, the symbol "x" = Multiplication):

    = 2 x 3 (2 x 1) + (6 x 3) 6 x 1

= 6 2 0 6 (nb: the "2" of the 20” is carried over to the left hand side).

    = 8 0 6

= 806 (This shows only the mental workings. The Multiplication of 26 by 31 can be solved mentally!)

There are 16 Jaw-Dropping Sutras or simple Sanskrit Word Formulae which solve all known mathematical problems in the branches of Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus are easy to understand, easy to apply and easy to remember.
This Vedic One-Line Mental Arithmetic is very helpful in stimulating Modern Mathematicians to adopt its simplicity and quickness. Once initiated to these Vedic rules, students of all ages will appreciate and enjoy the enhanced subject.

The aim of Vedic Mathematics is to bring this long-hidden treasure trove of intelligent mathematical knowledge within easy reach of everyone who wishes to obtain it and benefit by it.

Sutra: Digital Sums: For Multiplication By Eleven

When scientists have a problem, say with electronic data, and they need to send it efficiently, the solution is invariably Compression. Digital Compression is a powerful Sutra that solves multiplication by 11 very quickly.
If we wanted to multiply 25 x 11 we merely add the two digits of the 25 and say "2 + 5" which is 7 and insert it between the two digits. Thus the answer is 275. Another way of showing this is to separate the two digits and insert their digital sum:

    25 x 11 = 2 (2+5) 5
    = 2 7 5

    39 x 11 = 3 (3+9) 9
= 3 12 9 (nb, the "1" of the "12" gets carried over to the left)
    = 429

    RAPID MENTAL CALCULATION

    Eg: What is 108 x 109 in 5 seconds?
Solution. In Base 100, both numbers exceed the Base by 8 and 9 respectively.
    Add the 8 to the 109, giving 117 / _ _
which gives us half the answer.
Then tag on the multiplication of those two excesses,
    which is 8 x 9 = 72.
Thus the mental answer is 117 / 72 or 11,772
    Its brilliant and simple.

How long the Vedic math will be neglected? How much more positive experience we would have with the Math if we were taught right thinking? ... one line math, mental... unbelievable...

THis is great description how math sutras work. Nature of mind thinking.

    The Sutras (aphorisms) apply to and cover each and every part of each and every chapter of each and every branch of mathematics (including arithmetic, algebra, geometry – plane and solid, trigonometry – plane and spherical, conics- geometrical and analytical, astronomy, calculus – differential and integral etc., etc. In fact, there is no part of mathematics, pure or applied, which is beyond their jurisdiction;

The Sutras are easy to understand, easy to apply and easy to remember; and the whole work can be truthfully summarized in one word “mental”!

Our mind is extremely subtle and fluid. There seems to be no limit to what we can think and imagine. But if we carefully watch our thoughts we find that we all use certain specific techniques: of reversal, comparison, extension, generalization for example. And it is interesting that we all seem to develop the same mental techniques, even though we are not specifically taught how to think.

The sixteen Sutras can be related to these naturally evolved mental processes. It is our mind that constructs the mathematics and this is done according to the natural functions of mind, which may be expressible by the Vedic Sutras.

Some of the sutras seem to fit neatly with a well-known mental function. For example, Transpose and Apply would describe the reversing that we often use in our thinking. We look at something from the other person’s point of view; we feel compassion; we ‘change our mind’ and do the opposite of what we were going to do. It makes sense as a cosmic principle as we see plants grow and then die away, the sun rises and sets. In one of Aesop’s fables a bird was trying to drink from a jug but could not reach down to the level of the water. After a while instead of struggling to get his head down far enough the bird went and got some stones which he dropped into the jug until the level had risen enough for him to drink the water.

By One More than the One Before is also easy to see as a principle: everywhere we see things that follow on from, or are created out of, other things, due to the lawful nature of the universe. The Sutra expresses how one idea naturally leads to another: just by resting the mind on an idea another idea arises. This can happen sub-consciously when our mind wanders from one thought to another (sub-Sutra) or it can be a deliberate conscious choice to develop an idea. So, given a square you know that it has four right angles, and seeing someone walking towards you, you expect to pass them shortly.

The sutra By Addition and by Subtraction refers to the mental process of comparison. In comparing two things we look for similarities (addition) and differences (subtraction) between them. Addition involves bringing things together into the same group, and observing similarities involves noting those qualities which the two things have in common (i.e. can be grouped together). In subtraction we observe those qualities which differ in the two things. Shown two photographs of the same person taken ten years apart we notice similarities (we recognise common features which we mentally group together) and we notice differences (the person is taller, has different hair colour etc.). This is a very common mental technique. As a natural phenomenon we see that the forces of nature continually throwing things together and separating them.

The sutra Vertically and Crosswise can be related to decision making and evaluation. In assessing something we weigh up all its aspects, perhaps giving strengths to each of them and then finally coming to a decision by summing all these results. For example, in deciding at what time to leave home for a meeting we may consider traffic, weather, how long it takes to prepare, implications of being late and so on. We assess the importance of each one and sum them, rather like multiplying pairs of numbers and adding the results, as we do in Vertically and Crosswise multiplication. This is also a very common mental process. As a principle of nature it seems to describe how everything is interconnected.

All from Nine and the Last from Ten. Here we first need to interpret nine and ten in more general terms in order to understand them as more general entities. In the generation of whole numbers from number one each new digit is one more than the previous one and is more complex than the previous one. In a sense nine is the most complex digit as the next number, ten, is one with zero (i.e. 10). Ten represents a new unity, a new order of unity and it contains the previous nine numbers. Nine is the stage just before unity is reached. So the Sutra describes repeated non-unity, followed by unity. In following this sentence, for example, all the parts of it are absorbed before the full comprehension of the meaning of the sentence and we know at each step that we are moving towards a unity. All the parts are like nines, they are all short of the unity sought, but together they lead to a new unity, ten.

In fact if we look we see this principle operating everywhere. A house is built: the foundations are laid, the walls go up, the water pipes are put in etc. and the final result, ten, is the house. A plant grows until it reaches its fulfilment in its flower and its seed. We listen to someone and each point that is made is understood after hearing the words that make up the point being expressed. And each point may itself be leading to a further idea so that the same principle may apply on different levels. Whenever a new unity is realised there were steps that led to it. The same mental activity will be recognised in the way we sometimes continually think about something in order to try to understand it or to come to terms with it.

The Sutra refers to the reaching of a new state. So understanding, comprehension, realisation, enlightenment etc. all express this. A ball rolls along a table top, but when it reaches the edge it goes into a different state. Then it falls until it reaches an obstacle when it again changes its state of motion. We may see parallels in our own life.
If the Samuccaya is the same it is Zero. The word ‘samuccaya’ has several meanings we are told, but usually it can be interpreted as total’ or ‘combination’. So we may say ‘If the Total is the Same it is Zero’. Sometimes it is the sameness of something that is significant. We do not realise that the clock was ticking until it stops. A word constantly repeated becomes meaningless. As long as things are as normal (the same) we do not register them (it is zero). In a Sherlock Holmes story Sherlock Holmes points out to Dr Watson that the fact that the dog did not bark is significant (it meant that the dog knew the intruder). If walking to a place by a different route to the normal one has no advantage we are not inclined to take that route. We ignore what is irrelevant or what we prefer not to see. We ‘put it out of our mind’.

If One is in Ratio the other One is Zero. We can put our mind onto anything we like. We choose our opinions and beliefs and so ignore contrary views. We choose a meal from a menu, we select certain beliefs that we choose to hold, discarding all others. A country chooses a leader, he speaks and acts for the people (he is in ratio) the others need do nothing. We make an assumption or we take a stand. We frequently decide to take something as true/given (in ratio) and proceed on this assumption, leaving other possibilities aside (equal to zero) for the moment. When looking for a blue sock among a drawer full of socks we can mentally tell our mind to see only blue. (The word ‘ratio’ comes from a Latin word that means ‘reason’).

By the Completion or Non-Completion. Sometimes we can see a whole even though the whole is not there. Three-quarters of a circle immediately gives the impression of a full circle. We see symmetry in the beauty of a flower even though perfect symmetry is not there. When we ‘jump to a conclusion’ we see, or think we see, some idea. We complete the whole. So, someone is speaking and we know what they are saying before they finish saying it. The detective pieces together what has happened by a series of clues. We say “I get the picture”.

Completion implies non-completion, both are there together. We may deliberately leave something incomplete, we may wish to indicate something without actually saying it: it can be implied.

Differential Calculus. Calculus is all about change and motion, which are fundamental to creation. Mentally we may imagine the effect of changing something (while keeping other things constant); we can conduct ‘thought experiments’. We may consider the effect if a tree continues to grow, if interest rates continue to rise, if the rain doesn’t stop, what it might be like to jump on the moon and so on.

By the Deficiency. We often see how things fall short of an ideal. Differences from the norm stand out. We examine something we have made and see its shortcomings for example. These shortcomings are then the focus of our attention. (Looking for faults may be valuable in a car mechanic but not in a personal relationship).
It is the deficiencies or excesses that stand out and get noticed. We are interested in how much we are driving above or below the speed limit or whether we have thanked someone enough, or overdone it. A wrong note in a piece of music stands out.
Specific and General. This relates to the mental process of generalisation from the specific, which we do all the time. In fact this is just what we have been doing with the Vedic Sutras in this paper: we take the idea of, say, addition and subtraction in the mathematical sense and look for a more abstract meaning of those words. Then we can look for mental processes that use this more abstract meaning: which is going from general to specific. Metaphors use this Sutra: when we say “leave no stone unturned” or “food for thought” it is the general quality that has been described by means of something concrete that has that quality.
We can use this technique for interpreting dreams because a dream may be a specific formulation of a general worry or concern: we may examine the essence of the dream and look for examples in the life of the dreamer of how that essential quality may manifest.

The Remainders by the Last Digit. Everything in the world is being continually modified by the things around it. We have ideas and sets of ideas about things and one observation or thought can lead to the whole structure being modified.
We can regard the ideas we have already as the remainders and the latest idea is the last digit that operates on those ideas and modifies them. For example, we learn something about someone and that modifies our opinion of them. Driving a different car to the usual one or treating someone differently because they are in an emotional state, we have to adapt our habits to cope with the change.
We also set up more permanent structures in the mind that apply for a lifetime. As we get older we can get more ‘set in our ways’, it is more difficult to adapt, to change our way of doing things. We say ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’.

The Ultimate and Twice the Penultimate. In nature we often see that one thing triggers another: warm, wet weather causes seeds to germinate for example. The mind may act habitually in a certain way in response to a certain stimulus. One idea (the ultimate) may trigger a reaction, a stronger set of ideas already fixed in the mind (the penultimate). I want to say something to a certain person when I see him, the sight of that person triggers the memory. At the time I decided to speak to that person I conditioned my mind to react when that person is sighted. One idea takes over from another. It is because the fixed ideas are stronger and take over that they count twice. We can use this to our advantage by alerting the mind to be selective in some way. Mother hears baby cry in spite of all the other sounds; she has conditioned her mind to be alerted to that sound. When we say ‘it rings a bell’ an internal idea has been awakened by something outside. The saying ‘Once bitten, twice shy’ also involves this idea.

By One Less than the One Before. Sometimes we stand back and take an objective look at a situation. We may be struggling with some problem and decide that it is time to look at the bigger picture or perhaps we are feeling the pressure of too many commitments and think it is time to step back, relax and take a fresh look. Here you are in this room, in this country, on this planet etc.

This is the reverse of the Sutra By One More than the One Before (which describes deduction) and it also relates to the mental process of induction where a conclusion is reached based on a number of instances. For example the child sees objects fall to the ground when they are released and so naturally thinks that the next object released will fall. This has the same quality of stepping back.

The Product of the Sum. Sometimes we have to assimilate several ideas and draw a result, or product, from them. ‘Sum’ suggests bringing some ideas together, and ‘product’ is a result that follows from this – it is the product of the sum. It is the overall impression. Bring a lot of men together and you have a crowd or an army: the whole is more than the sum of the parts.

All the Multipliers. Sometimes we need to summarise a number of things. The final speaker at a conference brings together all the ideas that have been aired and discussed. You are saying goodbye to someone after a meeting and bring to your mind the important points from the meeting that are relevant in order to say the appropriate things.

    Isn't it a pity
    Now, isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
    And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
    Without thinking anymore
    Forgetting to give back
    Isn't it a pity

    Some things take so long
    But how do I explain
    When not too many people
Can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity

    Isn't it a pity
    Isn't is a shame
How we break each other's hearts
    And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
    Without thinking anymore
    Forgetting to give back
    Isn't it a pity

    Forgetting to give back
    Isn't it a pity
    Forgetting to give back
    Now, isn't it a pity

This is the way it could be all over if this life style were supported by TPTB meaning those who led by example.

Wow, Great thread people. Hare Krsna.

I am a regular visitor at the temple in Murwillumbah NSW Australia.

I was a devotee in the 70s. Long time ago.

Carol, this is the age of Kali and the PTB are firmly in control....for now.

I'm hoping that will change very soon.

Keep your vibrations high and watch the sky.

Sanskrit texts from ancient India, the Mahabharata tell us about interstellar wars that took place in prehistoric times by extraterrestrial forces with high-technology aircraft and weapons in the firmament of the earth, which were also the world's inhabitants affected. Sure ortho would enjoy.. :)

    Ancient Aircraft Vimana's
India - Land of Myths and Legends
    Vimanas Video
Several holy scriptures from a variety of cultures speak of flying machines which were once used by individuals of high standing (kings, prophets, teachers etc.) The most extensive descriptions of such are found in the literature of ancient India. The flying machines were called "Vimanas." North Indian temples have such a "Vimana" called stone at their tops. "Mysteries of the World" will take visitors to ancient India with an atmosphere of fragrance and soft background music. The walls will be covered with projections of "Vimanas." In the starlit sky, a magical space city will float exactly the way it is described in the "Mahabharata," an ancient Indian epic war poem. Where did the Vimanas come from? Who created them?

Thanks for this post Mudra. I have all the software tools to create these sounds and do much more with them.

Understanding brain function and how to manipulate or entrain brain function is what I do.

I sell these on my website.....these units have the capacity to generate 3 million colours.

This video is an introduction, but I can program this device to generate many more useful states of consciousness.
It can produce a meditative state in 10 mins that would normally take 10 years to produce using orthodox methods.
It induces lucid dreaming and OOBEs quite easily with little practice.
