South Korea Vows ‘Enormous Retaliation’ After North’s Deadly Island Bombardment Watch_jpg_1025241cl-8

SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, who convened an emergency security meeting shortly after the bombardment by North Korea, said that an "indiscriminate attack on civilians can never be tolerated."

"Enormous retaliation should be made to the extent that (North Korea) cannot make provocations again," he said.

North Korea bombarded a South Korean island near their disputed western border Tuesday, setting buildings ablaze and killing at least two marines and injuring 16 others after warning the South to halt military drills in the area, South Korean officials said.

South Korea said it returned fire and scrambled fighter jets in response, and said the "inhumane" attack on civilian areas violated the 1953 armistice halting the Korean War. The two sides technically remain at war because a peace treaty was never negotiated.

The United Nations Security Council could hold an emergency meeting in the next day or two over the attack, saying "It's in the works for either today or tomorrow. We are for it and planning is ongoing," Reuters reports.

The United States, which has tens of thousands of troops stationed in South Korea, condemned the attack and called on North Korea to "halt its belligerent action," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in Washington. He said the United States is "firmly committed" to South Korea's defense, and to the "maintenance of regional peace and stability."

2 years ago there were rumours that before the Pole Shift or some other important changes/events, they would orchestrate a conflict with North Korea.

Interesting. No doubt the missile off of California is involved in this somehow. We must remember that MSM is not going to be telling us the whole truth.

They are saying now that the North torpedoed the South battleship last summer. I am sure it was proven that it was self inflicted.

Of course it was self-inflicted...they wanted to start that conflict last year but failed..ot it was just a planned precursor to this one. Anyway...maybe some forces want a few American cities being nuked...there were predictions like that in the past..it is all pre-planned.

You know it is odd that they didn't blame North Korea for the mystery missile off of the coast of California. They have both subs and missiles that could have pulled it off.

South Korea has admitted it fired artillery shells that triggered an early morning clash with North Korea. However it says it was part of a military drill and denied it was directed at the North. Earlier Seoul blamed the North for what it called an unprovoked shelling of its island. Pyongyang claimed the South had violated its maritime border during the military drills. Seoul has since threatened its neighbour with what it called 'enormous retaliation'.

Potassium Iodide (KI) pills have been found to cause Cancer. There is another form of this stuff people should know of, Potassium Iodate or KIO3 which is the safer alternative.

South Korea admits firing first shell in row with North Korea.

Interesting comments and videos at both websites . It appears that the torpedo that sunk a South Korean warship was made in Israel ! North Korea has no relation with that rogue state ... it follows that it was a false flag .. But why provoking North Korea now ? Could it be the scanners at the US airports ?

Linda, I can only speculate here..but...it is another game of fear, they want us to be afraid again, to stop thinking about who we really are, stop reading ,getting informed about lots of different things. The earth changes, what's going on around the sun, UFO sightings, chemtrails, etc...it will be put aside for some time, won't it?

    Good point M.

If there was anything left of the missile, it would be very suspicious if the piece said "Made in Isreal"!

Is there anything left to analyse after a missile explodes?

Either way I still think it was a false flag event.

Latest reports are adding weight to the view that North Korea’s attack on Yeonpyeong Island Tuesday, which is largely thought to have been premeditated, was connected to the regime’s power succession.

A South Korean government official reportedly said the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and his heir Jong-un on Sunday had visited an artillery battalion that supervises the Gaemeori base from where the shells were fired.

While the shooting has stopped for now, the tensions have not, and they continue to rise. Blame whoever you will but the fact remains that the losers in the end will be all of humanity if a peaceful solution is not achieved.

On Sunday the USS Washington Carrier group consisting of The Washington and it's contingent of 75 warplanes, several Destroyers, Missile Frigates and a Los Angeles class Nuclear attack sub or two, will as always be armed to teeth with nuclear warheads placed in aircraft deliverable packages as well as Tomahawk Cruise missiles and sub launched missiles also capable delivering nuclear warheads.

On the other hand the North Koreans who receive their sophisticated weapons and weapons tech from the Chinese could possibly posses the formidable SS-N-22 Sunburn anti ship missiles which are virtually indefensible. From launch to impact requires less than 30 second from the Chinese coast. Much less from the North Korean Mainland. If they don't have them, the Chinese are know to, and have expressed great concern about the scheduled wargames particularly in light of the recent hostilities. The Koreans have stated they will not tolerate anymore "war games" in what they consider their territory. I don't think their bluffing.

Yes as expressed above this looks like a distraction. It's pretty obvious if you look at a map to see the islands in question. It would be tantamount to the Mexican Gov occupying Catalina for 50 years. What do you think Washington would do? It's pure insanity to push the NK in this manner considering the instability of it's rulers. It's obviously an attempt to intimidate the Chinese who have the Koreans on a short leash.

It may also be a direct response to the Mystery Missile launched on 11-8-2010 off the coast of LA. Coincidently 11-09-2010 in China / Korea that day.

I'm starting to feel like Dr Strangelove has been resurrected.

I still think it is with connected to the regime’s power succession and some heavy posturing by NK to let the US know they may be small but they have sharp teeth.

I too can sometimes sense into the future for some things but the time period is much shorter these days as we get closer to the galactic center. Meaning time is speeding up so fast the future is unfolding as if one is sitting atop the crest of a wave. Present time to 24 hours is best. External variables play havoc when trying to sense beyond 24 hours and then there are the events time travelers alter so sometimes it's just anybody's guess. It was much easier long ago when life was less complex.

I sense NK settling down with a little influence from China as China is not looking for a major conflict with the US right now with such a major investment in US economy. The timing isn't right. In addition, it would not surprise me if TT likely have their foot in the door on this event as well.

Of course I will add, I really know nothing and am just speculating.

South Korea Vows ‘Enormous Retaliation’ After North’s Deadly Island Bombardment Empty Re: South Korea Vows ‘Enormous Retaliation’ After North’s Deadly Island Bombardment

South Korean defense minister resigns over deadly clash

    25 November 2010

The BBC's Chris Hogg says North Korea is warning of more attacks

South Korea's defence minister has resigned amid criticism of his handling of North Korea's shelling of an island near their disputed maritime border.

President Lee Myung-bak will name Kim Tae-young's successor on Friday.

Tuesday's barrage left two South Korean civilians and two marines dead, and sent regional tensions soaring.

South Korea has increased troop numbers on Yeonpyeong and other nearby islands, and announced more rigorous rules of engagement for future incidents.

Mr Kim had been urged to step down by legislators from both governing and opposition parties over his handling of the shelling.

In his resignation statement, the minister said he took full responsibility.

South Korean officials described Tuesday's attack as "surprising and shocking".

"We couldn't have imagined they would carry out this kind of grave provocation," one senior government source told me.

The South Korean rules of engagement called for a sufficient but proportionate response to an attack from their northern neighbour. But that was not enough of a deterrent.

So now they have a simple message for Pyongyang - in the face of any kind of further provocation, however unimaginable, South Korea will now not hesitate to use "all kind of measures".

"If we give this signal to North Korea they will have to think for more time before they make their judgement [to launch a further attack]," the official said.

The new defensive posture should be more flexible and more unpredictable, but it could create extra risk that any future attack could more easily escalate into something far worse.
    More powerful response

The government also said it was changing its rules of engagement to allow it to respond more forcefully to similar incidents. The old rules have been criticised as too passive.

The BBC's Chris Hogg in Seoul says the cabinet had decided that under the old rules of engagement there was too much emphasis on preventing a military incident escalating into something worse.

In future, the South would implement different levels of response, depending on whether the North attacked military or civilian targets, a presidential spokesman said.

A senior government official told the BBC that Seoul wanted to be more flexible in order to keep the North Koreans guessing as to their response.

The South Korean broadcaster, KBS, said the new rules called for the South to fire back "with shots two to three times more powerful than the enemy artillery".

North Korea meanwhile threatened further military action if the South continued on its "path of military provocation", the official KCNA news agency reported.

Pyongyang has blamed Seoul for this week's incident on Yeonpyeong, insisting it did not fire first. The South was holding military exercises in the area at the time, and returned fire when the North's shells began to land.

The North also accused the United States of stoking tensions - saying it helped draw up the "illegal" western maritime border between the two Koreas.

About 28,000 US troops are stationed in South Korea.
    Naval exercises

The clash was one of the worst incidents between the two Koreas, who remain technically at war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended without a peace treaty.

The US and South Korean militaries are to hold joint naval exercises, which will include US aircraft carrier USS George Washington, south of Yeonpyeong in the coming days.

The Chinese foreign ministry has expressed "concern" over the exercises.

"We oppose any act that undermines peace and stability on the peninsula," it said.

Beijing, Pyongyang's main ally, has been under pressure to use its influence to ease tensions.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, who is in Moscow, earlier described the situation on the peninsula as "grim and complicated".

Mr Wen repeated his view that the six-party talks on the North's nuclear programme should be resumed as soon as possible, a position shared by Pyongyang.

South Korea, the US and Japan have said the negotiations should not restart until the North stops uranium enrichment work and apologises for its alleged torpedoing of a South Korean warship in March, which killed 46 sailors.

A visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi to South Korea, which had been due on Friday, has also been postponed. The delay was put down to "scheduling" issues.
